CLACTON race ace Jesse Chamberlain is hoping for a much-needed sponsorship boost after making a flying start to the Toyo Tires Porsche Championship.

The 24-year-old secured a podium spot at the British Racing and Sports Car Club event.

To make the achievement even more eye-catching, he went straight into qualifying - without any testing - at Cadwell Park, in Lincolnshire.

In his three races, he finished seventh, fifth and third.

“I was delighted to finish on the podium in my first weekend of running in a very competitive championship,” said Chamberlain, who is part of the ProAm Performance team.

“In the final race, I finished third after battling to be on the podium all weekend.

“I was second until the last lap before losing out to a back marker.”

Chamberlain went into the event in good form.

He recently competed in a GT event, running in a British touring car and finishing third in class.

Another recent triumph came at a 24-hour race at Rockingham, battling against established racing drivers like former Le Mans 24-hour race winner Andy Priaulx and the vastly-experienced Alan Gow.

He hopes his emergence on the motorsport scene leads to financial help, in the way of sponsorship.

“I’m looking for sponsors at the moment,” he said.

“It can be a bit of a struggle budget-wise but I’ve just been offered the chance to race around the world in a 24-hour series, taking in places like Texas, Dubai, Barcelona, Spa and Porto.

“I’m also hoping to compete in the British GT where I’ll be running in a GT4 car.

“Any help I can get will be massively appreciated and we have great packages - both small and big - for sponsors.”
