WALTON Swifts rolled back the years by winning the Age UK/North Essex Walking Football League Charitable Trophy, at Little Oakley.

The event was for over-50s and they entered two teams, one competing as the Swifts and one as Walton Peers.

They were up against Chelmsford City, Southend United, Harwich Hornets and Oakley.

The competition started in a league format, with the top four competing in semi-finals and the winners going on to the final.

Walton Peers just missed out on the cut for the top four but the Swifts claimed their place in the semi-finals. Paul Holloway netted six times along the way.

Swifts then overcame Chelmsford to set up a final against hosts Oakley.

After a closely-fought contest, a penalty shoot-out was needed.

With Holloway, Steve Chalmers and Dennis Beere netting and keeper Steve Gentry pulling off some magnificent saves, Swifts won 3-1.

Walton are set to enter two teams in next month's Foxash tournament in Lawford.
