SOME outstanding scores were posted at Playgolf Colchester's annual Greenkeepers Day.

The fun-format event, which saw several holes played with the black-flag format and two-pin positions on some greens, was open to all sections of the club.

Players declared which hole they intend to play for and the difficult pin position rewards you with double points, if you score on the hole.

Sam Durrant won the men's event with an outstanding 53 points, including 24 points on the black flag holes.

Jack Moutell was second with 46 points while Ivan Southernwood was two points behind, in third.

The winner of the ladies section was Emma Rowe.

A good-sized field took part in the Playgolf Seniors monthly stableford, with both divisions scoring steadily despite the gusty breeze.

Geoff Backhouse (12) headed up division one on 36 points on countback from second-placed Stephen Peeling (17).

Paul Marsh (15) took third place with 35 points.

Division two also saw the top two needing countback to see first-placed Stephen Ashbee (26) card a creditable 38 points from runner-up Len Cole (23).

Stan Knights (26) was two points adrift in third place, on 36 points.

Sleeves of balls for birdies on the par three holes went to Brian Hart and Bruce Poole, senior captain Michael Johnson, Len Cole and Bob Price.

Playgolf Seniors entertained a spirited team from St. Clements in a friendly return match.

It went to the last result for the home team to come out on top 4-3 on matches and win the overall two-way tie.
