THE annual BHF Corsa Classic golf day took place at Clacton Golf Club, hosted by Dan Clark and Bob Davidson.

With the help of the 130 golfers who took part, they raised an outstanding sum of £2,075 for the British Heart Foundation.

The format was a greensome stableford and the standard of golf was exceptional.

Clark and Davidson would like to thank everyone who gave up their time to play and all those who helped make it another successful event.

The 2017 winners were Ben Usedon and Brady Diplock.

The men’s runners-up were Paul Pidgeon and Gary Lee, on countback with 49 points.

The ladies' winners were Brenda Lord and Kath Sinnott, with 43 points.

The longest drive came from Lee.

Nearest the line was Julia Hewett and nearest the pins were Brenda Lord, Brian Adams, with a hole-in-one on the fifth, Tony Chandler, Keelan Sorrell and Mick McCathie.

Clacton's men played in the club's Portnoi Cup and Nathaniel Spencer won his first golf leaf club competition, with 43 points.

He was followed in a close second by Adam Box, with 42, and in third place was Leslie Hall, with 40.

The club held a one-off competition in memory of late club captain for 2017, Jeff Sinnott.

The number of players involved was excellent and gave an indication of the esteem in which Jeff was held.

All money raised has been donated to Macmillan Cancer Support and the final total was £300.
