CHELMSFORD’S first team earned a good win against Ilford, in the main thanks to the efforts of Jack Sterland and James Clifford.

The pair made 58 and 66 not out respectively as the innings closed at 251-6.

Essex all-rounder Ashar Zaidi contributed a quick-fire 51, but the Ilford innings subsided to 150 all out.

Wickets were fairly evenly shared around, with Sam Cook claiming three.

The second team enjoyed a thumping victory in the reverse fixture at Chelmer Park.

Rob Hayto was in typically aggressive mood as he compiled 112 from just 85 balls, while James Gruijters made 60.

Rapid contributions down the order meant Chelmsford finished on an imposing 323-6, and Ilford never got close, dismissed for 148.

The third team returned to winning ways as they won comfortably at home to Shenfield.

Tom Bage claimed three wickets and Harrys Arnold and Green two each, with 61 not out from Nigel Guy and 43 not out from Jay Smith.

The fourth team were soundly beaten away at South Woodford.

Three wickets for Matt Cole was a highlight.

Rupert Redman contributed 54 runs out of Chelmsford’s fifths’ 168-9, but despite Orsett losing six wickets in reply, they overcame the Chelmsford score with just over six overs to spare.

There was a win for the Under-12s in the last game of their Peter Coe Cup campaign. Ben Lawrence and Rishabh Upadhyay both took three wickets as visitors Harlow were dismissed for just 47.

Chelmsford won by the wide margin of nine wickets.
