A HUGE squad from Colchester Swimming Club impressed at the prestigious Essex County Championships in front of a crowd of more than 2,000 spectators at the London Olympic Pool.

More than 100 swimmers from the club competed, having qualified for the sprint competition at various events around the region during the course of the season.

They all achieved a personal best (PB) in their respective 50 metres sprint events, with more than 1,000 competitors taking part.

Colchester SC sisters Martha Duley and Elinor Duley lead the pack in their respective 16+ girls age groups.

And Olivia Norman is currently the best 15 girls performer, with Abbie McCarthy in sixth place overall.

Asma Parker is third in the 14 girls category where Rebecca Girolami is seventh while Sophie Freeman leads the way in the 13 girls age group.

Ciara Wookey is fourth, while Lucy Morgan lies in overall sixth place.

In the 12 girls section, Anita Tien is fourth while Charlotte Norman is fifth and Naythan Aung now lies in second place, in the overall combined competition.

All swimmers were aiming for a top-ten finish to qualify for the event final.

Colchester SC head coach Michelle Young thanked all of the swimmers, timekeepers and pool side helpers for ensuring the team performed to their best.

The club now looks forward to the final weekend at Basildon Sporting Village.
