Colchester United have rejected a bid from Ipswich Town for their in-form wing-back Brennan Dickenson.

The Daily Gazette understands the U’s have snubbed an approach from the Championship club for their left-sided player, who has been in excellent form in recent games.

Dickenson, who has hit seven goals for the U’s, has made a big impression for Colchester since joining them from League One side Gillingham, last summer.

The 23-year-old, who signed a two-year deal with the U’s after arriving from the Gills in July, hit the ground running for his new club in the fourth tier.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion youngster chalked up three goals and an assist for them in the opening month of the campaign, earning him a nomination for the EFL League Two Player of the Month award for August.

Dickenson’s momentum was interrupted by a hamstring injury last September which kept him sidelined for six weeks and ruled him out for eight matches.

However, his return to the team in November helped Colchester embark on a nine-match unbeaten run and move into the play-off places in League Two.

Dickenson is one of the U’s most consistent performers under head coach John McGreal this season.

Colchester currently lie in the play-off places after suffering just one defeat in ten matches and will not want to lose the wide man.
