WIVENHOE TOWN boss Mo Osman insists there is no lack of confidence within his out-of-sorts Dragons squad.

The Maple Tree Cars Stadium side are without a victory since October 1.

Fourteen league matches have slipped by - 13 in the Thurlow Nunn League, in addition to a League Challenge Cup setback against Ipswich Wanderers - since they pipped Swaffham Town 1-0.

However, Osman is convinced his players can turn things round - and insists belief is not a problem.

“Our performances have been OK,” he said.

“We’ve been playing some decent stuff, despite losing a large chunk of our squad, and that bodes well.

“If we keep at it, I’m sure our luck will turn.

“Clacton are a good example of that and it goes to show how quickly things can change, if you start winning.

“The table can look very different very soon and we’ve got to keep battling.

“I firmly believe we’ve got it within us to turn things round.

“We’ve got to forget about the players who have left and the games we’ve lost - we’ve just got to concentrate on what we can control and affect, starting tomorrow.

“The players still feel positive, like I do.

“The talent is there and they’ll go into tomorrow’s game believing they can win.

“No-one in the squad is playing without confidence or belief.

“That confidence and team spirit will only grow when the results come.”

Wivenhoe have an eye-catching game at home to Hadleigh United tomorrow.

The Dragons are 16th and their opponents 18th, with four points separating the sides.

However, Osman is reluctant to put pressure on his players by ramping up the significance of the fixture.

“I guess there’s an extra incentive, because of both sides’ positions in the table,” he said.

“But I don’t like looking at it like that and never build one game up as more important than any other.

“That just adds extra and unwanted pressure.

“In our position, we need to start winning matches and it doesn’t matter who we beat.

“There’s no point winning tomorrow and then losing our next ten.

“Every game is worth three points and we have to prepare properly and concentrate on ourselves.”

Wivenhoe have lost several key players in recent weeks but Jack Smith has extended his loan from Heybridge Swifts - albeit on a game-by-game basis - while striker Jack Tyrer has joined on loan for the rest of the season, also from Swifts.

“The exit door appears to have closed, at last,” added Osman.

“But that means I’m left with players who really want to be here - who want to play for the club.”

Ben Connell is back at the club after a spell away travelling and Wivenhoe will assess the fitness of Lee Clowsley (ankle) and Miguel Nydam (virus).

Adam Hampson is awaiting the results of a scan on his knee and will not be available tomorrow.

Elsewhere tomorrow, FC CLACTON face a tricky trip to Great Yarmouth while BRANTHAM ATHLETIC play host to Swaffham Town.

STANWAY ROVERS have no fixture.

In division one, the top two meet as COGGESHALL TOWN play host to Stowmarket Town.

HALSTEAD TOWN, HOLLAND FC and BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES are all on their travels, at Team Bury, Needham Market Reserves and Leiston Reserves respectively.
