BURNHAM motorbike ace Danny Buchan will return to the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship in 2017 as he bids to regain the title for Kawasaki after signing a new deal with the Morello Racing squad.

The 23-year-old dominated the championship in 2014, before moving into the MCE British Superbike class for the last two years, but after a challenging 2016 campaign is determined to return to the track with a winning performance.

Buchan said: “Kawasaki really want to win with the new ZX-10RR.

"I did it in 2014 so my goal for next year is to do better than I did in my championship year by winning more than nine races.

"It won’t be easy as there are some good riders in it and there are a few moving back too.

"But I am two years wiser and have two years more fitness under my belt, so I am looking forward to it.

"Hopefully, I can then make a plan to be back in Superbikes for 2018.

“I’m looking forward to going racing in Superstock again; Morello have a good pedigree so I am confident we can do a good job.”

Morello Racing team owner, Steve Buckenham, said: “We are delighted to secure the services of Danny, who is an extremely talented rider and a previous winner of the Superstock 1000 Championship on Kawasaki machinery.

“Danny’s signature is a genuine statement of intent from the team as we chase for championship success in 2017.

"We we will be pulling out all the stops during our extensive winter testing programme to ensure we have a package that will put Danny at the front and winning races.”
