FORRESTER Park Golf Club's veterans got their Winter League underway with a better ball stableford.

Dave Curtis and Barry Trickett won with 51 points, with David Chapman and Alan Wilson finished second on countback ahead of third-placed David Ayres and Dale Rayner and Mike Manning and Mike Yore who were fourth, after all three finished with 47 points.

Forrester Park ladies played their October medal, with Sue Stead winning the first division with nett 73.

Anona Straker was second with nett 75, ahead of Jennine Pook who won the second division with nett 71 from Diana Ketley (nett 73).

Susan Wilson won the third division with nett 73 while the nine-hole competition was won by Jo Dixon, with 17 points. Susan Wilson had the best score of the past captains playing on the day to claim the Ida Bunting Trophy, run in conjunction with the medal competition.

At Forrester Park Golf Club's AGM, honorary secretary Colin Loveridge announced that he was stepping down after 30 years on the committee.

His time on the committee included two spells as club captain (1989/90 and 1995/96), vets’ captain (1997) and 25 years as honorary secretary.

The meeting proposed and agreed unanimously for Tim Forrester-Muir to be approached to mark this outstanding contribution to the club’s progress from a nine-hole club with limited facilities to the thriving club it is today.

He readily agreed to award honorary life membership to Loveridge.
