HALSTEAD Boxing Club junior Mitch Lawson was in action at the Main Event Box Cup at Shotgate.
He reached the final, but unfortunately lost out to a more experienced boxer on the day.
Despite the loss, Lawson showed great courage and strength and is maturing all the time as a boxer.
Meanwhile, Halstead’s Gil Nicholson was presented with the Schoolboy Boxer-of-the-Month trophy for September.
Nicholson is still relatively new to boxing but he has already shown a lot of promise and skill in the past couple of months.
Junior coaches John Webb and Caroline Searles are pleased with the youngster's performance and the way he always works hard in the gym and listens to his coaches.
The runner-up Schoolboy Boxer-of-the-Month trophy was awarded to Jack Renshaw.
He also has only been attending the club for a short period of time but with more training and coaching he could develop into a good boxer.
