DICK Bokenham edged victory in Colchester Golf Club's stableford competition following a three-way tie.
Bokenham came out top on the countback over Mark Culley (12) and Robert Svensson (15), after the trio all finished on 38 points.
It was Bokenham's ability to limit his bogeys to shot holes which allowed him to get the points, as he had two holes where he did not score at all.
Both Culley and Svensson had solid rounds but that extra shot to give them first place eluded them.
John Dornan (seven) and Ian Parry (eight) both returned 37 points to take fourth and fifth places.
Colchester GC held the keenly-contested Hodson Trophy, a team three-ball competition where a junior joins a team of two full members.
Sam Jackson along with club captain Vic Phomphrett and Liz Lennox, recorded a credible 89 points to take first place.
In second place with 87 points were Charlie Allison, playing with the club's vice-captain Stewart Ness and the ladies' captain Sheila Dornan, who was second place with 87 points.
Joe Jackson, Mike Withers and Penny Allen were third, on 86 points.
Colchester GC's ladies held their Medal Winners Cup, with Patricia Walker winning with a nett of 71 from her 26 handicap.
Joan Cotterill (25) was placed second with 73, while Margaret Dearnley was third with 74 nett.
A quartet of players returned nett 76, with Claire Croger (24) finishing fourth followed by Cassie Cunningham, who had the lowest gross of the day, Wendy Smith (23) and Gill Crayston (25).
