DAVID Ayres had two reasons to celebrate at Forrester Park Golf Club.
He enjoyed victory in the men’s Bees Trophy, with 42 points, and victory in the gold division of the vets' monthly stableford, with 37 points.
John Appleton and Ged Burfitt were second and third respectively in the Bees competition, where all the entry fees are donated to Cancer Research.
Bryan Bowring took second place in the gold division of the vets' stableford, with Steve Badjonat in third place, both with 34 points.
The silver division was won by Tony Goble, with 36 points, with Richard Groves in second place, with 35, and Terry Shuttleworth third, also with 35 but beaten on countback.
The bronze division was won by Roger Godfrey, with 34 points, with John Abrey second and Malcolm Harlow third, with 33 points.
Carl Scarborough, Eric Hoffman and Lorraine Wilson drove in to start their year in the spotlight as club captain, ladies' captain and vets’ captain with varying degrees of success with the shots.
