FRINTON Golf Week continued as the fine summer sunshine held up right until Friday, but the wind continued to make play that much more difficult.

The course was in fine condition due to the hard work of the green-keeping staff.

Boyden’s sponsored the Tuesday Professional Day.

The format was a three-person team where the best score counted for the first six holes, two scores for the next six, and all three for the last six holes.

The team of Hamish Stubbs, Scotty Boyle and Chris Hemingway were way out in front with 85 points to win it.

The ladies dominated in second and third places.

Audrey Joshua, Joan Stevenson and Lida Boland were in second place with 78 points and Barbara Thorpe, Marie Ellis and Caroline Gard scored 71 points to place third.

Joan Stevenson won two gloves for closest to the pin on both the third and sixth holes.

Wednesday was a 4BBB sponsored by Ellisons, with Frinton’s honorary solicitor, Ellison’s Nicki Coates, presenting the prizes.

Adrian Joshua and Malcolm Maskell won it with 45 stableford points.

Chris Hemingway and Scotty Boyle were in second place on countback with 43 points, just ahead of Simon Partridge and John Jardine.

The Ladies' Invitational took place with ladies inviting a gent to partner them for the day.

Townrow sponsored the day and the format was foursomes stableford in three pairs.

Ginny Richardson and James Hide put in a fine performance, winning it with 42 points.

Jemma Jackson and Liam Wilson finished in second place with 40 points and third place went to Linda Hayles and Gavin Cowell with 39.

In the afternoon, the Mallison Pitch and Putt competition was won this year by Roger Attrill and Rob Trotman claimed the Sainsbury Putting Trophy.

Friday was a Texas Scramble in two sections sponsored by Handelsbanken.

The morning players definitely had the advantage as the rain came down a few times in the afternoon, but the afternoon team of captain Peter Webster, Nigel Jackson, Steve Davies and Joe Bushell won it with a nett score of 58.1.

Second place went to Graeme Dodds, Andrew Bailey, Justin Osborne and Tony Nicholas with a close 58.3.

One of the sponsors, Johanna Little, played with Simon Martin-Redman, and brothers Murray and Darren Northover and finished in third place with 58.9.
