SATURDAY’S Harwich Parkrun saw a double victory for the Knott family.

Graeme was the first finisher in 18 minutes and nine seconds - his ninth time at the event and his eighth win.

Not to be outdone by her son's performance, Elspeth, in her eighth local Parkrun, was first lady in 24m 12s and 20th overall.

The second finisher was fellow Harwich Runner Mark Lloyd, in 18m 25s.

Peter Fraser-Hopewell completed his 92nd Parkrun on Saturday in a new course personal best (PB) of 23m 11s, which was a 14-second improvement on his previous best.

Other Harwich runners to achieve PBs were Sally Gillam (25m 8s) and new member Joe Francis.

It was the 17th time Francis had run at the event and he recorded an impressive 32-second improvement, to finish in 21m 32s.

The run of the day must be that of 15-year-old Archie Barrington.

A 13-second improvement on an already impressive sub-20 minute PB gave him a finishing time of 19m 38s and third finisher out of the 92 who took part.

The second and third lady finishers were within two seconds of each other.

The second finisher was Rebecca Conran, of Great Bentley Running Club, in 24m 40s, and Harwich Runners' Ann Piercy was third, in 24m 42s.

Two Harwich Club members, who were on separate holidays in Southern Ireland, took advantage of the opportunity to take part in local runs.

Rebecca McCrea finished 80th out of 247 competitors in the Malahide Parkrun, Dublin, in 25m 23s.

Kieran Callaghan joined 340 runners in the Castlepollard 5k and finished in 22m 19s.
