CLACTON golfers competed in the Captain's Prize event.

Captain Nick Smith put forward the prize - a new Moto-Caddy trolley, worth £400 - and the winner was John Moore, with 40 points.

In second was Martin Penalver, with 39 points, and in third was Phil Green, with 38.

Meanwhile, Clacton's ladies played their July stableford and the winner, with 33 points, was Sue Gurry.

In second was Brenda Lord, with 29, and in third was captain Gilly Cullen, with 28.

Fourth place went to Janet Hiller, with 27 points, on countback from fifth-placed Maxine Baker.

Clacton's juniors played for the Sandie Rudkin Cup and the winner was James Wright, with 46 points.

In second was Josh Bethell, with 39, and in third place was Wilf Elliott, with 38.
