TWO unbeaten records were on the line as Tillingham hosted Little Waltham at Vicarage Lane in the T-Rippon Mid-Essex League and the home side's victory took them to the summit of division two.

Upon winning his first toss of the season, Tillingham skipper Cummins inserted Waltham into bat.

Nasir began in aggressive style, despite some accurate bowling from the hosts, however one expansive drive too many led to his demise as he was well-caught at slip by Sutherby off the bowling of Hayman.

Andy Mee came on first-change and quickly got his name in the wickets column, as he ran through the middle-order claiming three for 30 in his ten-over spell.

A partnership of 85 between J Clark (78) and Akhtar (48) helped Waltham mount a recovery.

But a superb spell from Darren Shipton towards the back-end of the innings reaped four for 33 in seven overs as the visitors were all-out for 200 in their 45 overs.

Skipper Cummins opened up with Hylton and the pair set about blunting the opening quicks.

Farhan Mahmood bowled quickly and aggressively, but both batsmen dug in and put on 77 for the first wicket.

Hylton was first to go for 33, which brought Chris Sutherby to the crease.

He scored fluently on his way to 65 as he shared a 108-run partnership with his captain, before being trapped LBW with victory in sight.

By this stage Waltham looked a beaten side, and it was left to skipper Cummins to hit the winning runs as he finished unbeaten on 80, with more than five overs to spare.

The result sees Tillingham sitting top of division two after three games.

Saturday sees them travel to play at Rayleigh Fairview as they look to cement their position at the top of the table.
