CHELMSFORD ABC secretary Mick Hull hailed the club’s show on Saturday as the best he has known in his 50 years with the club.

More than 300 fight fans packed the Marconi Club to watch 20 bouts and Hull said: “In all my time I have been at the club this has been the best show we have put on.

“The quality of the boxing including the boys and girls that have never competed before was unreal and it is a credit to them and their trainers for getting into such great condition and fitness.”

The first four bouts were no-decision skills contests and saw Chelmsford youngsters Harvey Theedom, Archie Dines, James Mason and Regan Jackson-Smith face Donny Davis (Canvey), Josh Sparks (Billericay), Henry Head (Billericay) and Will Booth (Brentwood). Chelmsford’s Forrest Whittlesey beat Halstead boxer Mitch Lawson by a unanimous judges’ decision but club-mate Taylor Jackson-Smith lost on a 2-1 split decision to Chalvedon’s Harry Blackhall.

Chelmsford’s Louie O’Doherty ended the unbeaten record of Rayne’s Johnny Delaney on a split decision.

Chelmsford’s only female carded boxer Chloe Thorpe made her debut against Alana Atkins, with the Chalvedon boxer taking a unanimous verdict.

Louis Theedom (Chelmsford) had a unanimous points win over Jesse Seme Menga (Finchley). Liam Hollaway (Chelmsford) got a TKO debut win against Jordan Stansbury (Farnham) when the referee stopped the fight in the second round.

Matthew Saunders (Chelmsford) enjoyed a unanimous verdict against Sequan Scott (Finchley). Courtney Walcott (Chelmsford) lost on a unanimous verdict to the more experienced Jamie Blore (Halstead). There were seven further contests between clubs from Neasden, the 2nd Paras and Eastern County Championships.
