GREAT Bentley Running Club members were in action at the South of England Cross-Country Championships, at Parliament Hill.

Charlie Keitch, Rodger Alexander and Matt Knowles ran in the senior men’s race and Keitch was first home in one hour, 12 minutes and 31 seconds, placing 710th out of more than 1,000 competitors.

Alexander followed in 1h 16m 44s, with Knowles completing the 15,000 metres course in 1h 22m 54s.

Earlier in the day, Bentley runners had competed at two Parkruns.

At Harwich, Malcolm Jarvis continued his streak of top-ten finishes, being the sixth runner back in 21m 51s.

Tonie Wilson’s first attempt at the course saw her finish as the fourth lady home in 25m 1s.

The Colchester Castle Parkrun welcomed the usual suspects, with Lee Clarkson being the first Bentley member home in 21m 36s, followed by Meera Rajoo-Oakley (21m 49s).

Next was Andy Stephens, in a personal best (PB) 22m 33s, while Chusa Bautista Frustuoso equalled her PB in 24m 12s.

Scott Young finished in 24m 38s, Paul Hollidge in 25m 5s and Lynsey Apps in 29m 45s.

All finished in the top 100 of more than 300 finishers.

The Colchester Castle Parkrun also saw Bentley youngsters Megan and Caitlyn Hughes make their second attempts at the 5,000m distance.

Both ran in the under-11 category, with Megan completing the course in 38m 28s and Caitlyn close behind in 39m 31s.

Linzi Iddon accompanied both girls, finishing in 39m 31s.

John Bush competed in the UK Winter Run London – a 10,000m course – and improved on his time from last year, finishing in 1h 1m 4s.

Also completing the 10k was Rajoo-Oakley in 59m 31s.
