FC Clacton crashed to defeat at Long Melford.

The Seasiders fell to a 4-0 Thurlow Nunn League premier division loss on Saturday afternoon.

On three minutes, Wayne Blackman played a lovely ball through to Karlos Andrade. He took the ball past the keeper, but out of play.

Scott Yearling had Long Melford’s first effort on target of the afternoon on six minutes, which was palmed over the bar by Joe Fowler in the Clacton goal.

Fowler was called on to save another shot four minutes later from Jamie Griffiths.

And the pressure told on 12 minutes when Hayden cut inside and fired a low effort under the defender and into the bottom corner.

Long Melford doubled their lead when Yearling dinked the ball over the advancing Joe Fowler to double the hosts lead on 30 minutes.

The homes side made it 3-0 after the break when Nathan Rowe headed home Yearling’s cross on 65 minutes.

Aaron Condon had a chance to reduce the deficit for the Seasiders on 79 minutes but his penalty was saved by Sam Mansfield diving to his left.

And it got worse for Clacton on 85 minutes when Griffiths lobbed Fowler to round off an emphatic score-line.

Stanway Rovers took a good 2-0 win at Hadleigh United while Brantham Athletic fell to a 1-0 defeat at Haverhill Rovers.

In division one, Wivenhoe Town secured a great 3-0 win at Downham Town with all the goals coming in the first half.

The visitors opened the scoring when the ball was cleared to the edge of the area from a corner and Joe Heron fired home.

Ray Turner then quickly made it 2-0 when he hit a great strike into the top corner.

The Dragons then hit the woodwork twice as Adam Hampson hit the crossbar and Luke Goldie-McSorely headed against the post.

Heron then pulled a decent save out of the Downham keeper from close range.

Wivenhoe then went 3-0 up when Ben Lampon’s cross went straight into the goal.

The visitors almost scored two more when Lampon glanced a header wide and Hampson sliced his effort past the post.
