Chez Isaac believes Braintree Town will bring all the confidence they have taken from their FA Cup exploits into their return to Vanarama National League action today.

The Iron host Kidderminster Harriers at the Avanti Stadium today (kick-off 3pm) and Isaac feels they will be buoyed by two strong FA Cup displays against League Two Oxford United in recent weeks.

They took the U’s to a first round replay and while the League Two side had too much in their locker in the end, there should be plenty for Braintree’s players to draw confidence from.

Isaac said: “The manager summed it up afterwards in saying how we’d taken a Football League side like Oxford to 180 minutes and gone to-to-toe with them for the vast majority of it.

“Their quality and their finishing showed in the end but we’re really proud and the effort we all put in was brilliant.

“They are one of the top teams – if not the top one – in League Two in terms of form at the moment and we can take a lot of confidence from going toe-to-toe with them.

“Playing up to their level for most of the 180 minutes should only give us confidence.

“That’s the way it was all over the park and something that we can take into our league.

“We were never going to win the FA Cup, but there are a lot of positives to take from what we’ve done this year.

“We’ll take all the confidence from the last couple against Oxford and bring it into the league.

“If we can go toe-to-toe with them, we don’t have to fear anyone in the league.

“We can get results whoever we face and we just have to take it game by game.”

Isaac came off at Oxford with a recurrence of the groin problem that he has been carrying for a while, but he is hopeful that he’ll be fit to face Kidderminster.

“I was struggling a bit with it after the game at Halifax last weekend,” he said.

“It was still quite sore for the game at Oxford, but I played through it and managed to get through the first half, but it tightened up a bit and I had to come off.

“Hopefully I’ll be OK for Saturday as I’ll get some good treatment on it now and it will settle down.”
