CHELMSFORD City will be looking to bounce back from their 4-2 defeat at the weekend when St Albans City visit on Saturday.

The Clarets had enjoyed back-to-back wins after beating Hayes & Yeading 4-0 and Bishop’s Stortford 2-1.

But that run was ended by Whitehawk as the Brighton team were 3-0 up inside the first 22 minutes against an out-of-sorts City.

Scott Nielson opened the scoring after just five minutes with a tap-in and then made it 2-0 with a rocket in the 14th minute.

Sam Deering then put the home side almost out of sight on 22 minutes but Chelmsford were given a lifeline when Mark Hughes scored early in the second half.

Danny Mills then tapped in on 65 minutes to restore Whitehawk’s three-goal lead and, despite a penalty from Hugo Skepelhorn putting Chelmsford in with a shout on 70 minutes the visitors were unable to overturn the deficit.
