A turnout of more than 80 players supported the Colne Valley Golf Club captain’s charity by playing in the Captain’s Charity Texas Scramble and raised more than £800 for Canine Partners.
The scores were very close with the team of Michael Cousins, Don Cutmore, Julian Edwards and Stephen Rose heading the field at 53.8. Just behind in second place, with 54.4, was Russell Bell, Tom Bowles, Stuart Carr and Simon Gugacz.
Third place went to Shaun Granshaw, Paul Martin, Darren Reeves, Tom Smith with 54.6 with fourth going to the first of the mixed teams Alessandra Callow, Jerry Callow, Cynthia Hollingsworth and Mike Latta with 55.6. The Ladies’ Guest Day also had an excellent turnout of 60 players.
Victory went to Linda Freeman and Jan Edwards with 48 points, from second-placed Carolyn Harris and Lesley Knight, who just pipped Alessandra Callow and Wendy Smith on countback after they also had 46 points The seniors’ annual B & J Adams Bowmaker competition saw victory go to the team of Peter Harding, Dickie Bird and Paul Neale with 91 points.
Tom Attree, Tony Beadle and Peter Swanston were second with 82 points and Norris Silk, Paul Therrien and Derek J
