Halstead Road Runners fielded two teams of eight runners in the The Spitfire Scramble 24-hour off-road endurance race at Hornchurch.

Competed over an undulating ten kilometre course, the 16 Halstead Road Runners each managed an average of 24 miles to make a total distance for each team of 192 miles over the 24-hour period.

Team Jim finished sixth overall, while Team Nathan finished ninth.

Team Nathan consisted of Nathan Roulson, Dan Hollinshead, Rosie Atkins, Karl Hillman, Allistair Godfrey, Bob Langley, Sam Wolton and Jenn Langley, while Team Jim featured Jim Clark, Kathryn Bronson, Lee Cullen, Nicole Smith, Andy Owen, Jon Buist, Hazel Buist, Steve May.

Meanwhile, Halstead Road Runners’ adventure racer Jim Leaney took part in the Dirty Dozen Destroyer 18km assault course race at Barleylands. Mud, water and 20ft high obstacles were the order of the day for Leaney, who finished in just over three hours.

Marathon duo Andy Wilmot and Dan Smith headed to Hertfordshire for the annual Lelias Run Marathon, with Wilmot running four hours 23 minutes and Smith back in 4h 58m.
