A YOUTH football coach has hailed the knowledge, skill and enthusiasm of his fast-improving players.

Glenn Coombe manages Frinton and Walton’s under-eights and says the youngsters have made big strides in 2014/15.

The season started with a boost, following a sponsorship deal with Naze Marine Park Resorts.

And the players certainly delivered on the pitch, with so much interest that the club were able to field two teams in the age group.

Both played in a non-competitive five-a-side league and had a very successful year.

They were proud winners of one trophy competition and runners-up in another.

“The children are approaching their fourth year of playing together and, as time goes by, their knowledge, skill and enthusiasm is really improving and new friendships are also being formed along the way,” said Coombe.

“Without the generosity of local businesses like Naze Marine Park Resorts, we’d find it a lot more difficult to buy our kit so a very big thank you to them.”

The club train throughout the year on a Saturday morning, with their matches taking place on a Sunday.

The team will now play seven-a-side matches on slightly larger pitches in 2015/2016.
