George Elokobi is back at Colchester United.

The powerful defender, who made nearly 50 appearances for the U's between 2004 and 2008 before leaving to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, has signed a two-year deal with the club.

Elokobi spent last season with the U's League One rivals Oldham Athletic, where he made 27 appearances.

But now the former Premier League defender has rejoined Colchester, more than seven years after he left.

Elokobi joined Colchester after being spotted playing for non-league side Dulwich Hamlet, in 2004.

Colchester boss Tony Humes had been on the hunt for defensive reinforcements and in particular, an experienced centre-half.

Elokobi, 29, fits the bill as he can play at the heart of the defence in addition to full-back.
