Manager Mark Benterman has been busy building his squad for Halstead Town’s promotion push this year with two new additions making returns to the club.

Goalkeeper Luke Banner is back after a spell at Stanway Rovers.

His former time at Halstead, two seasons ago, saw Banner keep 12 clean sheets from 16 loan appearances and Benterman said he will be battling with Matt Walker for the number one shirt during their pre-season games.

The other player making a return is midfielder Tom Barry, who is back after a season at Cornard United.

Benterman added: “Luke’s record when he was with us first time was exceptional and we know what he will bring, while Tom has a great engine and adds to the options that we have in midfield.

“He wants to be a part of the club and he feels he has a point to prove.

“I like players who have that as they are hungry and that’s what we want.”

Benterman also said he is in talks with two right-backs about coming to the club.
