CLACTON’S Jason Levermore had an improved second round but was unable to make the cut at the BMW PGA Championship, at Wentworth.

The 35-year-old had qualified for the prestigious event after a dazzling display – finishing second – at last year’s Titleist PGA Play-Offs, in Turkley.

However, he finished seven over after the first two rounds, with scores of 78 and 73 for a total of 151.

It left him tied in 118th place.

Former Clacton County High School pupil Levermore made an unfortunate start with a double bogey on the first hole.

Three more bogeys, plus another double, left him playing catch-up at the end of the first round.

He produced an improved display during his second round, including three birdies on the front nine, but it was not enough to make the cut.
