The seniors of the Essex Golf and Country Club cantered to victory when they travelled to their sister club, Benton Hall, for the annual Quadrangular Club Company competition.

Against tough competition from host club Benton Hall and two other Club Company members – Nizels Golf Club and Chartham Park Golf Club – the 12 Essex men claimed victory by 20 points with a total score from the best ten of their players of 330 points.

The Essex seniors also competed in the last round of their Memorial Eclectic competition. In third place, was 24-handicapper Nigel Gasper with 36 points, with second going to Roger Farson, 19, as he returned 37 points but a score of 40 points kept seniors captain Norman Stechman clear at the top.

The overall winner after the four rounds of the Memorial Eclectic was Farson with 52 points.

David Lord took second place with 51 and just pipped third-placed Bill Attwood on countback.

Nearest the pin on the par three fifth was Ron Thayre.
