HARWICH Angling Club junior member Rosie Mortimer managed to break her personal best during a pleasure fishing session to Bradfield Lake.

Fishing the low-peg numbers of the south bank, she chose to ledger fish in order to target the carp.

Using a bunch of sweetcorn hair rigged as hook bait, where some carp had been sighted, she had some very good sport.

Feeding little-and-often around her swim, it was not long before she had some interest.

After a short while, Mortimer had a good take and hooked into a decent fish, trying to make its way into the cover of the far-side reed beds.

Managing to keep the fish’s head up, she soon brought it into the landing net.

It was a good-condition common carp weighing in at 10lbs 2ozs.

Although no other fish were landed during her three-hour session, Mortimer was very pleased with her personal best catch.

The lake appears to be having some reasonable nets over the last few weeks as the weather is starting to get warmer.

Good carp, bream and roach catches have all been reported.
