Gosfield Lake Golf Club’s Jubilee Cup Team was formidable at home in their 8-1 second-round win against Maldon.
Forced to make changes in their better ball pairs line-up, Gosfield hoped their singles would carry the match and they were not disappointed.
Gosfield were quickly off the mark when Mark Francis returned with a seven and six victory, followed by Graham Barnard with a five and three win and Andy Fanning with a six and five triumph.
With Simon Thomas winning two-up and Vernon Fullalove four and three, they had taken five of the six singles games and the pairs then began to add to the victory.
Regular pairing Andy Bouttell and Wayne Hockley walked in with a six and five win followed by John Taylor and Barney DeBeer with a three and two win on the last green, before Geoff Powdrill converted a 3ft putt on the final hole as he and Paul Knight won one-up.
