Loyalties were split in the annual Captain versus Vice-Captain team match at Gosfield Lake Golf Club, but this year’s honours went to captain Malachy Shields.
The event attracted 72 players, with teams playing four-ball betterball Hambro matchplay and after the 36 pairs had completed their rounds, the cumulative betterball total was 30 holes to captain Shields and 24 to the vice-captain Jeremy Paterson.
The ladies’ section held their Spring Meeting on Tuesday with a field of 41 playing on the Lakes course and 13 on the Meadows.
Prim Rayner was the overall winner on the Lakes course with 39 points.
She said: “I have been trying to win one of these special day competitions for the last 20 years.”
The winning lady on the Meadows course was Ann Millar with 31 points.
