Halstead Cricket Club coach Phil Toogood wants to see them develop a ruthless streak after seeing them lose a game that they felt they should have had in the bag.

With Frinton seconds dismissed for 179 and Halstead poised at 100 without loss in their reply, it looked as if there would be only one winner in their Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one clash.

However, Halstead somehow ended up losing by 33 runs and Toogood wants them to heed the lessons from it ahead of today’s game against Wivenhoe at Star Stile.

Toogood said: “Frinton didn’t win the game, we lost it, but we will definitely learn from this.

“Winning is an art and can become a habit once you get on a roll.

“We have a very talented bunch of players that are showing great desire to perform for Halstead Cricket Club.

“We just have to work on adding a ruthless streak to our capabilities and we will be fine.”
