A BULLISH Alan Kimble believes his side can beat the drop and then challenge for the title next season.

The Jammers are two points above the Ryman League division one north relegation zone heading into Saturday’s final day showdown at Waltham Abbey.

Barkingside are the only side that can pull Maldon down as they sit on 44 points, compared to Maldon’s 46, and travel to Tilbury at the weekend.

Maldon grabbed a vital point at play-off chasing Dereham last Saturday with a 1-1 draw and Kimble knows that his side’s destiny and survival in the division lies in their own hands.

Kimble said: “We go to Waltham Abbey to keep our league status.

“They have nothing to play for and we have everything to play for.

“Barkingside travel to Tilbury, who also have nothing to play for.

“I’ve done all the calculations.

“I wish I didn’t have to but I am positive that we will stay up.

“If people want to judge me then they can do it on next season.

“I fully believe we will be champions or in the the play-offs.”

Kimble has a strong squad to choose from for this weekend’s crunch game.

He said: “Everyone is fit and raring to go.

“The boys who had the shirts on Saturday are in prime position to start on Saturday after last week’s performance.

“As long as there are no injuries between now and then.

“I will be without Sos Yao as he is suspended.

“Also Brad Hunter is still carrying an injury after his loan spell at Burnham and I don’t want to risk him.

“I think I maybe should have gone out and got another striker.

“I wanted to have a good look at Brad because he scored 19 goals last season and it is unfortunate that he is injured because that is what we have been missing.

“But I am not looking backward, I am looking forward.”
