Colne Valley Golf Club Cubs were winners at the first round of the 2015 Coastal Tour at Frinton.

The best girl of the day was Colne Valley’s Charley Hatley, who returned 35 points, while the Cubs won the nine-hole competition on the Kirby course, winning by two points ahead of Frinton’s B team.

The next event is on Sunday, April 5 at Colne Valley.

Wendy Cook and Sue Earnshaw beat a pairing from Gosfield at home to make progress in the Daily Mail Foursomes.

The home duo had to give ten shots to their opponents but were not fazed and won three and two.

Meanwhile, the seniors’ Monthly Medal was won by David Hume with a nett 70 from Chris Amor in second place with a nett 72 and Michael Hoines third, also with a nett 72.

The ladies’ Monthly Medal resulted in a victory for Sue Petchey with a nett 75. Celia Larkham was second with a nett 78 and in third place was Wendy Cook with a nett 88.

Mike Blinman was the winner as the men held a bogey competition with a score of +2, with Steve Taylor taking second on –2 and Mark Finster third with -3.
