Braintree Town goalkeeper Nick Hamann admitted to being shocked by their poor display against AFC Telford United.

The Iron came into the game on the back of a draw at Forest Green Rovers and impressive wins against Gateshead and Torquay United and were facing a Bucks side that was rock-bottom of the Vanarama Conference Premier.

However, the home players failed to read that script and Hamann said it was a shock.

“It was really surprising,” he said.

“We had been playing really well in the last six games and I thought against Telford was the worst that we had played all season.

“It’s disappointing for every single one of us because there aren’t many times you play in front of the TV cameras. We expected to put in a good shift, but it was nothing like us to be honest.

“We’re lucky that we’re not in a position where we’re in the bottom four or something like that.

“We’re in a good position but we have to play better than that. There were a lot of people watching and we should have done a lot better.”
