HARWICH AND PARKESTON 5

BRADFIELD ROVERS 0

Essex and Suffolk Border League division one

HARWICH continued their goal-scoring exploits with this victory over neighbours Bradfield.

The Shrimpers moved temporarily into second spot in the division, but the table will have to be readjusted due to the withdrawal of Barnston Reserves.

Harwich took time to settle against an enthusiastic and hard-working Rovers team.

Tony Moore and Chris Upton went close for the visitors but John Stace muscled his way through to give Harwich the lead, in the 32nd minute.

Eight minutes later, the Shrimpers increased their lead when Ashley Wood’s shot went in off a defender. With Sam Felgate giving an assured performance in goal, ably supported by central defenders Jake Neale and Daryl Eagle, Rovers found it hard to create further openings.

And with wing-back Luis Reynolds buzzing, Harwich took control of the second half.

They scored their third goal in the 63rd minute, when Matt Stace put Darren Bethell through.

Substitute strikers Robbie Marks and Craig Martin both then scored well-taken goals.

Bradfield mounted a late rally towards the end, but Harwich’s defence stood firm to keep a clean sheet. Tomorrow, Harwich travel to meet Coggeshall Town Reserves (kick-off 2.30pm).
