WithamTown manager Garry Kimble says his team have to cut out the naivety that is costing them Ryman League premier division points or they will be relegated this year.
Just as they have done in other games this season, soft goals at key points of the game proved crucial in denying them two valuable points in their 2-2 draw with Tonbridge Angels.
The last time Witham kept a clean sheet was in their 2-0 Robert Dyas League Cup win against Brightlingsea in November, but you have to go all the way back to September 23 and the 2-0 win against East Thurrock United to find the last shut-out in the league.
And Kimble is demanding better – starting with a game at Hendon tomorrow before the same team make the return trip to Witham on Tuesday – or he will make changes.
“At the end of the day it is the mindset of the players,” he said.
“They have to go out there and think ‘I’m going to keep a clean sheet’.
“When was the last time we did that?
“It has to be November at least.
“That is going to be vital.
“We just can’t keep the goals out and it seems that way whoever I put at the back.
“We can’t keep clean sheets and it’s a real worry."
