Simeon Akinola feels Braintree Town’s performance and result against Torquay United can kick-start an Iron climb back up the Vanarama Conference Premier table.

Akinola who scored the second goal in Braintree’s 2-0 win, is confident that they can rise up from their current 17th position.

And the former Harrow Borough winger feels even a top-five finish shouldn’t be beyond them if they can produce more of the form they did against Torquay during the second half of the campaign.

He said: “We told ourselves that is was a game where we had to get a result so we could be set up for the games coming up over the Christmas period.

“So it was a massive result for us as we have to start climbing back up the table.

“We have more than enough in our dressing room to be way higher than where we are and I think that’s going to show in the second half of the season."
