Chez Isaac hopes Braintree Town’s goal-scoring woes are behind them now.

Despite creating plenty of chances, the Iron have struggled to put the ball in the back of the net in most Vanarama Conference Premier games in recent months.

That saw them drop to four points off the relegation places, but midfielder Isaac feels the manner of their dominant 2-0 win against play-off chasing Torquay United on Saturday can give them confidence to push on up the table.

Isaac said: “We needed the win as we would have been slipping down there.

“There are a lot of games coming up and hopefully we can take it forward into them over the Christmas period.

“We had a great run last year, but this season the results haven’t been coming in the same way, but in terms of how we’ve been playing, I don’t think we’ve done that badly.

“We’ve been a bit unfortunate with not getting goals but hopefully that’s gone now and we can push on.

“It was important to get the win against Torquay or we would have been right down there, but a few wins under our belts now and we can go from there.

“The games come think and fast so hopefully we can get away from the bottom now.

“No-one wants to be down near the relegation zone.

“Hopefully, come the New Year, we’ll be in a better position than where we are now.”
