Tendring Volleyball Club are celebrating a double success.

The Frinton-based women’s team completed their first straight sets victory of the season, beating Tameside on Saturday.

And it turned out to be a day of double celebration as the club’s men’s team defeated Danes Watford 3-1.

Tendring’s women stormed to glory in their National League division one contest, only conceding 14, 21 and then 17 points.

Tameside are a highly-successful junior club who have won numerous national titles at under-16 and under-18 level. However, on this occasion they were no match for a Tendring team that included new signing – and former Tamesmead player – Millie Stamp.

Marta Campi had another strong game in the middle, with five block kills, nine attack kills and four service aces, and she said: “For me, this was the first game in which we played completely like a team.

“We knew it was a very important game for Millie.

“She wanted to win against her old club and our level is improving every week.

“While it’s too early to think about winning the league, we’re showing teams that we’re going to be difficult to beat.”
