Fresh from victory in the youth category at the VC Revolution Cross at Hilly Fields last week, Colchester Rovers youngster Cameron Hurst stepped up to the Senior race and continued his winning ways at the latest Maldon and District club event at Battlesbridge.
In incredibly wet and muddy conditions, the talented teenager finished ahead of the host club’s Kevin Darragh and the Rovers’ pairing of father Andy Hurst and Paul Speller in third and fourth.
Rovers’ Peter Hall came in 19th, followed by Andrew Hopper in 24th.
Not to be outdone by Hurst’s bravado in stepping up a category or three, having finished second overall and first girl in her age group race, Rovers Under-12 rider Amelia Hopper claimed 54th position in the Senior race, ahead of a number of adult riders.
Dan Hall claimed sixth overall (first Under-14) in the youth race then went on to finish 32nd in the Senior Race.
