Sanchez Watt admits he was “surprised and unhappy” to be omitted from Colchester United’s starting line-up for their game against Swindon Town.

Watt was named among the substitutes for the U’s 2-2 draw at the County Ground, having previously started all ten of their games under boss Tony Humes this season.

Watt, who was replaced by Rhys Healey in Colchester’s starting line-up, appeared as a second-half substitute for the visitors after coming on for midfielder Alex Gilbey.

Watt said: “Obviously I wasn’t happy to be on the bench.

“We’d won our last game, so to not be playing was a big surprise.

“I just had to make sure that when I came on I helped the team, instead of being unhappy.

“Of course I wasn’t happy not to start but you have to be professional.

“I feel like I can play in any game and it’s hard to take.

“The manager chooses his team and you just have to get on with it.

“At least people in the team were surprised, too.

“I’m just going to keep playing anyway and see what happens.”
