BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent manager James Webster felt a lack of urgency was to blame for his side’s midweek defeat against Cheshunt.

Regent lost 1-0 in Tuesday’s Ryman League division one north contest at North Road.

The Ambers’ winning goal came early in the second half.

“It was frustrating because I don’t think we put up much of a fight,” said Webster.

“We lacked urgency, apart from at the end, and never really looked like we wanted to get back in the game.

“I don’t think the players wanted it enough and we didn’t get enough from them.

“We were flat and that was out of character.

“Cheshunt did a good job of breaking the game up.

“There were lots of silly little fouls that disrupted our rhythm.

“They didn’t allow us to have any tempo or flow, while having one chance of their own and sticking it in the back of the net.

“We didn’t do that when we had opportunities and, once again, it was a case of fine margins.”

Tuesday’s defeat followed a 2-1 reverse at Brentwood, on Saturday.

Ricky Griggs scored their consolation goal.

Meanwhile, Regent, who have completed the signing of striker Jordan Heath, have a big FA Trophy match at Burnham Ramblers on Saturday.

They then host Romford in the league next Tuesday.
