HE was born a London bus ride away from Brisbane Road.

So Eastender Sanchez Watt is likely to feel right at home when he appears there for the first time for Colchester United tomorrow.

Watt hails from Hackney, three miles away from Leyton Orient’s stadium and is likely to have a sizeable contingent of family and friends watching when he plays there, this weekend.

The 23-year-old says he would like nothing more than to return to his roots and help the U’s claim their first victory of the season.

Watt said: “I’ve got a lot of people coming tomorrow - I’m from Hackney which is only ten minutes away from there.

“I’m looking forward to entertaining them and hopefully, we’ll be able to get our first win.”

Watt started his first game of the season for Colchester last weekend, in their 0-0 draw at Walsall.

The former Arsenal youngster missed the start of the season, following a bout of tendonitis.

He is now looking to make up for lost time, under the U’s new management duo Tony Humes and Richard Hall.

“I’ve been with the under-21s because of my injury so they know me through matches and training when I’ve not been with the first team,” said Watt.

“They have the views and their style of play and it’s not much different from Joe Dunne’s.

“They love wingers and they want me to be positive and that’s what I’ll do.

“I love being on the ball and going forward but I’ll play in any position where I can get the ball.

“I need to get some more assists and goals but I’ve been helping the team over the last couple of games.

“Even though we’re not scoring my confidence is going up and we’re getting close - we’ve just been unlucky.”
