HARWICH and Dovercourt High School’s sports stars swapped their tracksuit bottoms for suits and dresses.

The Hall Lane school held a presentation evening to celebrate their sporting success.

Students were selected for their commitment to training, if they had represented the school or had demonstrated good sportsmanship over the past year.

The overall sports personality of 2014 was awarded to year ten student Lewis Williams.

“Lewis has had an outstanding year and received the award for demonstrating a range of attributes,” said PE teacher Sophie Southgate.

“He’s been a true role model and his passion for sport shines through.

“He’s dedicated and determined, believes in his ability, respects others, has worked as a team and always has a positive attitude.”

Ten pupils were nominated from each year.

All nominees received a certificate and a sports personality badge and all winners from each category received a trophy, a hoodie, a T-shirt and other sports goodies.

Over the school year pupils have participated in a number of sports, including cricket, netball, football, softball and rugby, either as part of a training session or representing the school.
