Halstead Town manager Mark Benterman is pleased with how his team have responded to the opening part of their testing pre-season campaign.
Benterman wanted to put his players under pressure ahead of the start of the Thurlow Nunn League division one season next month and organised a tough summer fixture list.
They are due to continue with a game against Ryman League division one north side Maldon and Tiptree at Rosemary Lane this afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
But games against Conference South side Concord Rangers and Ryman League premier division side Witham Town have been useful so far despite a 5-0 defeat by Rangers and a 1-1 draw against Witham.
“It’s gone very well and to be honest, probably better than I had expected,” said Benterman.
“We’ve come away from the two games against good opposition having had a good work-out."
