Maxine’s year at Striders

| Four-time club winner: Maxine Oxlade |
A TOTAL of 150 Springfield Striders and their guests attended the annual dinner and dance at the Waterfront on Saturday to celebrate another highly successful year for the club.
Presentations were made for all the various club championships, with Maxine Oxlade the most prominent winner, taking home four awards.
The winners were - Club Championship: Sheila Macaulay & Andy Hind; Cross-country: Liz Turk & Lindsay Broadbridge; Trail: Kerry & Anthony Marsh; Fell: Sarah Colbert & Andy Mason; Marathon: June Cordwell & Gary Chandler; Half Marathon: Maxine Oxlade & Paul Dobson; 10 miles: Maxine Oxlade & Paul Molyneux; 10 kilometres: Maxine Oxlade & Paul Molyneux; 5 miles: Maxine Oxlade & Gary Chandler; Martini Trophy: Paul Dobson; Most Improved: Paul Molyneux & Jo Gemmill; Merit: Kevin Wright; Handicap: Honor Wood & Jona Davies; Golden Boot: Kevin Wright.
Tracey Ranson and Malcolm Savage survived the evening and travelled to Flitwick (10K) for the latest race in the East of England Grand Prix. Ranson took the ladies' prize and finished an impressive 45th overall while Savage was fourth in the over-60 category and was placed 175th from a field of 841 runners.
Mark Crook ran a personal best of 27:20, finishing seventh at Nicola's 5 on Canvey Island. Ian Cardy also achieved a PB in 31:09 and was joined by his son, Steven, running his first race for the club.
