Bethany Shriever thrilled the home support in Birmingham by capturing podium glory at the UCI BMX World Championships.
There was a special cheer for the 13-year-old from Finchingfield as she flew the flag for Great Britain by riding to silver medal success on home soil in the girls’ 13 years final at the National Indoor Arena.
She said: “It didn’t sink in until I was on the podium and everyone was cheering.
“It was overwhelming.
“It’s the World Championships and to even make the final would have been great, but this is unreal."
