Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire was pleased that his team finally got what they deserved from their trip to Stockport County in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

The Iron boss felt they were unfortunate to be behind to Danny Hattersley’s 15th minute goal after starting well, so was relieved to see them get the point he felt they merited.

However, Braintree made their fans wait for their goal, with Brad Quinton finally getting them back on level terms with a low drilled shot into the net in the second minute of time added on.

It was an ending that epitomised Braintree’s never-say-die attitude and was the sixth time this season they had struck in the last five minutes of a league game.

Devonshire said: “It wasn’t the best of games and had a bit of an end-of-season feeling about it, but I think we deserved the point.

“We gave a bit of a sloppy goal away, but, up to that point, I think we had been the better side.

“Then in the second half, we got into some good areas but didn’t pass the ball that well.

“Some of our players looked a bit tired, so to get what we deserved at the end of it – which was a 1-1 draw – was good and a fair reflection of the play.”
